Passport Photo Compressor — Compress to Exact KB
Application portals do not say "make the file smaller" — they name a number, and reject anything above it. This compressor binary-searches the JPEG quality to land your photo just under the exact KB target you pick, without changing the pixel dimensions (keep the scale at 100% when a portal requires exact pixels, e.g. 600×600).
The 240 KB target is the official ceiling for DV Lottery and U.S. visa uploads. OCI uploads commonly cap at 200 KB and the China visa form at 120 KB; portals occasionally change their limits, so if your form shows a different number, type it into the custom-KB field — it accepts any value.

Compression runs entirely in your browser — the photo is never uploaded anywhere.
Need the right dimensions too?
If the photo also needs an exact size — 600×600 for the DV Lottery and U.S. visa, 33×48 mm for a China visa, 35×45 mm for Schengen — make it with the document presets in the photo maker and the file size is checked there automatically.
Open the passport photo maker →Compress the file, not the photo
Resizing a 600×600 photo down to squeeze under a KB cap trades one rejection for another: the portal checks dimensions too. Quality-based compression keeps the dimensions exact and spends only image fidelity. If even the lowest usable quality misses your target, the tool says so — only then is a dimension change worth considering, and only for portals that do not fix the pixel size.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a passport photo to 240 KB?
Upload the photo above, choose the "DV Lottery / U.S. visa ≤240 KB" chip, keep dimensions at 100%, and compress. The result lands just under 240 KB at the same pixel size.
Will compression change my photo dimensions?
Not unless you change the dimension scale. At 100% the output has exactly the same width and height as the input — only the JPEG quality changes.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Cropping, resizing, compression and (where offered) background replacement all run locally in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
