India Visa Photo — Online Application

The online Indian visa application judges the uploaded file itself: it must be a square JPEG between 350×350 and 1000×1000 pixels, between 10 KB and 300 KB, against a plain light background with no border and no shadows.

The tool above exports exactly 600×600 px — safely inside the range — checks the file against both the 10 KB floor and the 300 KB ceiling, and can set a plain white background.

Online visa photo ≠ passport photo

Applicants routinely upload the wrong artefact: a scan of the 51×51 mm passport print, or a rectangular 35×45 mm crop. The online form wants a square digital file within the pixel and KB ranges above. If you also need the passport or OCI photo, use the separate presets — the composition rules differ (OCI wants the face at about 80% of the frame).

Frequently asked questions

What size is the India visa photo for the online form?

A square JPEG, 350×350 px minimum and 1000×1000 px maximum, file size 10–300 KB, plain light-coloured or white background, no border.

My upload was rejected as too large — what now?

If the file is over 300 KB, use the compress button in the checker (or the exact-KB compressor) to bring it under the limit without changing the pixel dimensions.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Cropping, resizing, compression and (where offered) background replacement all run locally in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
