Everything runs in your browser — your photo is never uploaded to a server. Face the camera, use even lighting, and (for passports and visas) shoot against a plain, light wall.
Choose document, size & background
White — required by the official spec. Background replacement is disabled for this document (see the compliance note below).
U.S. visa digital photo: 600×600 px minimum (up to 1200×1200), JPEG, max 240 KB, sRGB, plain white or off-white background.
⚠️ The U.S. Department of State requires the original, unedited photo: no filters, no software changes, no background replacement. This tool therefore only crops, resizes and compresses — shoot against a plain white or off-white wall.

The outer size is only half the spec — head size, background and file limits differ per document. These pages carry the verified rules for each one.

Format-only where the rules demand it
A growing number of authorities reject digitally altered photos — swapped backgrounds, smoothed skin, AI regeneration. The U.S. State Department instructs applicants to submit the original, unedited photo; Australia counts background removal itself as retouching; Canada rejects photos produced or modified with editing or AI tools. So on this site, background replacement exists only where the document's rules allow it. For U.S., UK passport, Australian and Canadian documents, the tools crop, resize and compress — and coach you to shoot against a plain wall. That restraint is the product.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes — the maker, every document checker, the exact-KB compressor and the print sheets are free, with no signup and no watermark.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Cropping, resizing, compression and (where a document allows it) background replacement all run locally in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
Why is background replacement disabled for some documents?
Because their authorities say so. The U.S. Department of State requires the original, unedited photo; GOV.UK requires digital passport photos to be unaltered by software; Australia counts background removal as retouching; Canada rejects altered photos outright. For those documents our tools are format-only — crop, resize, compress — and we tell you to shoot against a plain light wall instead.
Where do your specifications come from?
Each document page names its official source (a government, consulate or official application-agency page) and the date we checked it. We publish only values we verified there — where an official number does not exist or is disputed, the page says so instead of guessing.
Will my photo be accepted?
Acceptance is always decided by the issuing authority, and no tool can promise it. What we do is mechanical and verifiable: exact dimensions, exact background colour where replacement is allowed, head-size guidance from the published rules, and file sizes inside the published limits.
